Oh, please, can I be fashionable too?
Think sexism and glorified violence against women are part of the Past? Check out this fashion slideshow from Italian Vogue that I brought over from Twisty at I Blame the Patriarchy.
On a cheerier note, the new season of our favorite family show, The Amazing Race, premieres tonight. Take us away, Phil!

Ha! I can't exactly watch Booknotes with my nine year old. Besides, that shit is boring.
BTW, how many people do you think actually use BlogMad? I see the same sites over and over. I'm not complaining, just curious.
The "full-on rape scene " is being used to market th elasest line of rap and hip-hop clothing.
I'm only half-joking.
I am now officially sick to my stomach. And it's not because of the e. coli spinach I ate last week.
Gawd. So depressed.
But hey--I am TOTALLY showing this to all my classes this quarter. All my Young White Republicans who want me to just calm down, 'cause there's no such thing as racism and sexism any more, Dr. Lu, you're so not with the program.
Hmph.
They need to see it, Lu, because you're right--they don't believe us. They think everything is fine now that women, you know, have the vote and stuff.
I was about to leave a blithe remark, like "in the past? no way, blah blah" and then I clicked on it.
It has gotten worse. This is porn. I used to think the '80's pics of Guess Model Claudia kneeling in underwear in front of an older man was really awful, and boycotted Guess.
The dog, the men, the violence, the woman looking on...it is all just so so sick. And the women, they look surreal. The one with the boot on her throat...who the fuck buys this shit????
Women, we must hate ourselves, too. :-(
I love The Amazing Race and watched it on Sunday, with the sole purpose of trying to figure out who belongs to what team. I still like Phil (the host) the best!
P.S. I put a link to your site in my sidebar. How cool is that? :)
Dude, WTF? Those pictures are just so wrong.
